Default ? about playing games "online"

Hey everyone , I was wondering if 2 ps3s can play online together via ad-hoc mode if they were in a close distance to one another. Reason I ask is I just bought a 2nd plasma and thought it would be cool if I could play Resistance fom with a buddy each with our own screen at my appartment. I don't have the internet at my place and was wondering if I could do an ad-hoc (like psps do) connection between my 2 ps3s, Thanks for any info

ya I looked at the ps3 manuel and it did not mention anything , but thought maybe this feature might exist from new firmware or something. It seems like a fairly easy feature to add, I mean both ps3s have wireless so why not. I know its probably a long shot but how cool would it be for you and a friend to be playing RFoM co-op in the same room each with a nice plasma display in front of you .

I think that you might have to connect the two via a network of some sort. It wouldn't necessarily have to be internet related, but I've never tried to setup a router without connecting it to the internet.

I'm pretty sure some games support playing over a LAN.
