Default Which one? ...sigh

Well, I thought I had it all figured out, and was anxiously awaiting the release of the Sony BDP-S550. Then yesterday my dreams were crushed when I found out that Sony has not included a slow-mo or frame by frame option (something I use quite often). Now after months of research, I'm back to one.

So...

I'm trying to stay with the currently price dropped $350.00-$500.00 models. My receiver can process all HD audio, so internal processing isn't a big deal for me as long as the player will send it out via bitstream. Obviously, slow-mo is a must, and other than that, I do have a library of over 400 SDdvds, so upconvert quality is important as well. I own a 56" Samsung DLP if that makes a difference. Oh, and I'd also like 24p playback.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the Panasonic BD30 has slo-mo. Someone who owns a BD30 please chime in and confirm this. You might want to wait for the BD35s to come out. I bet when the 35s come out the 30 will be going to dirt cheap.

The PS3 does slo-mo and frame-stepping in both directions. Make sure you get the remote because using the controller to enable slo-mo is a big hassle. No bitstreaming though.

I have this player - and it will do frame-by-frame.

It also bitstreams the HD audio codecs.

Thanks for the suggestions so far! Might the Samsung BDP2550 also be a good choice? I've been looking around and the HQV chip seems nice for upconversion. Does the Panasonic have something similar?
