Since it has the extra of "coloring a classic" will it feature both versions?

Oh, that would be great then!
Normally I prefer the original, but it's good to have the colored one too for archival purposes.

Finally! Great news indeed. As you know, this is the film that introduced Irving Berlins "White Christmas". I am very happy about this announcement.

my favorite X-mas movie, but honestly just the thought of focusing on a "colorized" version sickens me.
it's such a classic--just leave it alone for god's sake.
I swear if the "real" film gets a a lower class treatment I will be so disappointed.
great news nonetheless.

Currently have it on a 2-in-1 DVD (strangely not a flipper) with Going My Way; day one for me even though the Digital HD code will be a double-dip (already did disc-to-digital from the DVD). Now if they'll just put Going My Way on BD...

With Holiday Inn coming to Blu-ray and 2014 being the 60th anniversary of White Christmas, does anybody speculate a new "special edition" White Christmas blu-ray this holiday season?

Every December, I have an urge to go out and beat up people who think the far inferior 50's movie introduced the song.
(Just to avenge the insult upon Fred Astaire's honor.)

But think Universal's just taking turns with Christmas sales releases, as the "fake" one already got a Blu four years ago.

Don't know it would really be needed, since the current Blu-ray has absolutely gorgeous picture quality, very nice audio, and a decent selection of bonus features.

But Warners loves to repackage previous releases, and now that they're handling Paramount classics I wouldn't put it past them to do another release with a new cover. However, if they actually created some new HD retrospectives, made up a reproduction of the original full-size 27x41-inch one-sheet, AND decided to print up a horizontal VistaVision print that they could cut up to include a strip of 35mm VistaVision film with two or three frames as a special bonus, I might consider double-dipping.

Has anyone seen this release locally, outside of online stores for sale? I wondered if perhaps that some stores consider this too early to carry for the holiday season, or perhaps they don't want to touch it due to the blackface segment. I haven't found a review for it either online.
