"The Florida Supreme Court has approved Judge Dava Tunis' recommendations for the permanent disbarment of John B. "Jack" Thompson, with no leave to reapply and $43,675.35 in disciplinary costs. The ruling is a step up from the enhanced disbarment that had been suggested by the prosecution, which would have forbidden him from reapplying for ten years. Thompson has 30 days to appeal the ruling before the disbarment is permanent. Thompson responds to the ruling."

He actually is trying to file an emergency motion against the ruling himself eventhough the judge said that any motions or appeals need to be filed by a lawyer who is in good standing with the Florida Bar.

Jack Thompson is the devil of the video game world. He has always tried to ban violent video games, no matter what. Only problem is, is that we have a new problem now...Hilary. Now, its not about anything political, but she wants violent video games to be off the shelves too.

you can wiki him for the full rundown, but in a nutshell:

whenever you hear somebody is protesting the content of any video game for its violence, especially the grand theft auto series, its this guy

whenever a young kid is on trial for a murder that has any, and i mean any, similarity to anything that you can do in one of these games, this guy was their defense attorney, trying to get them off and blame it on the game developers

he also did some work against howard stern i think, but the violence in video games is what he is known for

on a related note, i am about halfway through GTA4 and havent seen it yet, but i remember reading that there was a mission where you kill a lawyer that is supposed to be jack thompson, i dont really know any other specifics other than he was sueing rockstar over it, but i was wondering if this made it into the game, or was it cut?
