Default Disney's Discworld

Disney has announced that after Winnie the Pooh the next hand drawn animated movie will be Discworld. To directed by Ron Clements and John Musker with a release sometime in 2013 or 2014.

Oo, that's going to be tough--

Not that the Aladdin & Hercules directors can't handle complex humor, but it's a more subtle variety:
The only other animated adaptation of Terry Pratchett so far came from the writers of "Danger Mouse", and it's that style of Britcom-esque humor.

There were two good live-action adaptations of "Color of Magic" and "Hogfather", but either you're IN Pratchett's Douglas Adams-y world, or you're not. And Disney tends to interpret things for the mainstream.

Well, so far the rumor is that the book "Mort" will get the Disney treatment. I for one am really excited for this, and I really hope they can do a good job.

Hopefully Disney can respect the source material enough to make this one work.

This is way outside the ordinary - it seems like quite a Lasseter influence if I had to guess. Right now I'm extending Disney the same expectation as Pixar because of his oversight.

(I'm sure M&C can do a good job, but from the description, why am I picturing a fantasy-transplanted Hercules?)

I love sword and sandal stories and can't wait to see Disney take another crack at one.

Er, nooo, was thinking more in the auto-template "Zero-to-hero in the rough going the distance" story pattern that M&C usually specialize in (Aladdin, Hercules, Jim Hawkins), although they can handle male protagonists better than most directors at the studios.

Ah so a male Cinderella, no idea who Jim Hawkins is though, sounds exciting enough to be worth seeing first day.
