you can get a really good "preview" of what a title will look like on blu ray if you have the dvd and a mobile phone camera..
just pause a frame and take a picture, and view it on the phone. go ahead try it it looks HD! |

take a pic like that of a DVD and view it on your phone and it will look as if its HD. as all the data on the screen is compressed when viewing it small, your brain fills in the gaps. |

Yeah.... your brain fills in the blanks..... where have I heard this before???? OH THAT'S RIGHT.... that's what the "Upconversion" and "Digital Download" people are trying to preach......
And for what it's worth.... the audio is more important than the video anyways. |

The jump from B&W to color tv was HUGE. Some of us see the jump from SD to HD being just as huge, while others don't seem to see as much of a difference; and they may be perfectly happy with upscaling. I don't think that makes them idiots. Some would look at the large investments we have put into our home theaters and call us idiots, since that is something that certainly will not hold it's value. Whereas if we'd put that money into home improvements, we'd at least see a chance of return one day. So truly it is a matter of perception and preference. History tells us he's probably right about the new format in five years (give or take) as well. |

Blu-ray Count

Hey,
I watch Blu Rays at 1080p on a 81" wide screen in a dedicated Home Theater that I built myself. Seeing a Picture on a cell phone isn't going to be a "preview" of what anything will look like on Blu Ray. If it works for you ... that's fine. -Brian |

Well duh. It's the same thing as saying that all DVDs and Blu-rays look alike at long distances.
At a distance, all 480i, 720p, 1080p content will look the same. Heck, if you want to know what a title will look like in Blu-ray, just watch your DVDs from 20 feet away (depending on your screen size). |
