Default Nightwing \ Shadow of the Hawk coming from Mill Creek - September 18, 2018

https://www.millcreekent.com/nightwi...e-blu-ray.html

Quote:
It’s a killer creature double feature as two terrifying tales take flight with fright!

First time either film has been available in HIGH DEFINITION!

NIGHTWING

A wave of mysterious deaths on a Native American reservation in New Mexico are being investigated and…it's killer bats!

"Nightwing gives bats their scary turn" - Vincent Canby, The New York Times

SHADOW OF THE HAWK

An old Native American shaman trains his skeptical grandson as a Medicine Man who must battle enemies and black magic.

"Vincent is one of the more engaging young American actors" - Roger Ebert

Starring:

Nightwing - Nick Mancuso (Under Siege films), David Warner (TRON), Kathryn Harrold (Raw Deal), Stephen Macht (The Monster Squad), Strother Martin (Cool Hand Luke)

Shadow of the Hawk - Jan-Michael Vincent (TV’s Airwolf), Marilyn Hassett (The Other Side of the Mountain), Chief Dan George (Little Big Man)

Thumbs up

Never heard of either of those. A double feature of old, unknown horrors at a Mill Creek price? Count me in!

Oh damn you Millcreek!!!! I'm happy and sad at the same time...wanted Nightwing badly but they had to lump it into a double feature. I wish Kino had gotten this like they did Deep Rising. They put it on one disc too...boo!

Oh well at least it's on Blu-ray...anyone know if Shadow of the Hawk is any good?

I haven't seen either of these, but I do own the soundtrack for NIGHTWING courtesy of Varese Sarabande. At MC's price point, I will definitely be interested in checking these out.

I don't think Kino has a Sony deal.

Also, Scream Factory would have released these stand-alone on a single-layered barebones disc for $15 - $20 each.

Honestly, I think this is kind of the ideal release for these films. Especially since it'll probably be like $7.

I suppose but I was hoping Nightwing would get better treatment. I may be more excited about this if I end up liking Shadow of the Hawk too. At least it has a Native American theme going for it.

Funny thing is...with all the deals Kino does have (MGM, Fox, Disney, Paramount), they and Olive are the only boutiques without a Sony deal at this point.

I agree. 2 movies for 8 bucks instead of 30. People were complaining about he Hammer doubles too. I'd rather spend 8 then 60 for the indicator sets.

Great news! I love Shadow Of The Hawk. It's a cool ghost story set around native American folklore.

you know, when it comes to horror/sci-fi/suspense films-- I always want the best quality possible...even for lesser titles like these (neither are good films, but they have their moments)...

Mill Creek tends to cram double features with a low bit rate.... their quality on many titles are "acceptable", but not great.

$60 for the Indicator sets is a typical totally unfair and misleading comparison-- that's full retail and I don't recall many people on this forum paying that

About half that amount is right and I think it's worth the difference in price

I distinctly remember Nightwing coming out in the horror-heavy summer of '79 (Alien, Dracula, Prophecy, The Amityville Horror, Phantasm and Dawn of the Dead to name a few) but don't believe I've ever actually seen it; it doesn't have a good reputation, but a 70's horror double-feature at a Mill Creek budget price may well have me picking this up...never heard of Shadow of the Hawk, but the supernatural theme and glorious casting of Jan-Michael Vincent and Chief Dan George (it helps to be of a certain age to remember those names, kids!) makes it sound like it could be retro fun.

Not really horror unfortunately.
As a teenager in the mid 70's these movies fit the definition of disappointing.
The 2 titles deserve each other & both deserve Mill Creek

Never heard of Nightwing but I like Shadow Of The Hawk and I hope Mill Creek keeps turning these low budget films out I would not pay $30 dollars for them.

Y'know, reading about these 70's films with their combination of Native American lore and chills got me wondering...where's The Manitou on Blu?

Chief Dan George was my grandfathers cousin! My grandpa was even an extra in Little Big Man.
Sounds interesting but Mill Creek never seems to get these right, so will wait for reviews regardless of how cheap they are.

Maybe under your definition of horror but Nightwing is indeed horror. Its basically a b-movie creature feature with bats. Just because sonething is not super gory doesnt mean its not horror.
