Default XPS M1530 bluray drive issues

Why do some movies play on the bluray drive that is on the dell xps m1530? it is the matsashita BD drive.

Some movies play and others dont at all. It loads and just when you think the pop up menu is supposed to come - nothing. Just a blank screen.

And the movies that do play - they skip. All of them. I thought ti may hav been the disc but its happenieng with every movie that plays - it must be the drive, right?

It more than likely is. However Blu-ray is also software based too. A couple of things, are you using Dell's Power DVD version? Also, have you checked to make sure your drive is using the latest firmware? You can go to.. support.dell.com and punch in your service tag and it will pull up any updates needed for that drive - should be listed under cd/dvd/drives section. If there are any updates, install them.

If you are using Dell's power DVD, try removing it and using the trial version of Power DVD to see if that fixes your issue.

If none of these fix your issue, it sounds like a drive issue. What are the specs of your laptop? Should be decent since it is an XPS.

PowerDVD plays blus. I believe that is what dell is using. It's the back end for media direct. Media direct is a dell software app that pretty much starts 3rd party apps like PowerDVD.

What if after installing this thing, i still have playback issues and movies skipping?

Moreover....

I mean like what the hell. I plaid $500 to get the bluray drive on my laptop. Now this is what i have to get ONTOP to get my movies to work?

last time im buying from dell. They should pay this $100 for me is what i feel.

i mean how stupid is that...they said:

"its becasue all bluray movies are not created the same becasue of standardization issues with the technology when using bluray drive playback. Once a patch is found for every manufacturer of the disc, all movies from studios will play"

im like..what the?! so i paid $500 for something that may or may not play movies.

is this true? that some movies will play using dells media direct and some movies will not??

UGH THIS PISSES ME OFF

Your firmware?

#1 - NEVER TRUST A DELL REP! Remove all power dvd anything from your machine and install the trial ultra.

You have not posted your laptop specs. Speed, processor, memory, hd, screen type, vista/xp?

You have not posted whether you updated or checked to see if you can update your drives firmware.
