Default How about Cardboard Keeper Digipack Style Blu's (Campaign For A Greener Blu)

I'm not a fan of the plastic, it's cheap and characterless, I'd love to see some cardboard digipack style blu's like what we had for out LOTR's dvd collectors editions and the like, plus it's better for the environment and atleast we know the studios a little more to produce than the current $3.28 it costs to manufacture a single Blu release (case+print+disc).
I loathe Plastic, loathe loathe loathe.
I know some people don't like the Cardboard because it gets bent but do you really want your gear to out live you ?

Pass. I like the plastic. Unless we can get them all in steelbook, which would be my first preference.

I want it to be cockroaches, twinkies, and my Blu's that survive the nuclear blast.

Eek... my nightmare revealed.

I can't wait till the last of the cardboard snapper cases on my shelves get replaced with Blu Ray versions.

Your going to have an uphill battle getting many people here to agree with you. Alot of people around here hae digibook cases.

I wouldn't mind a thinner case or something more innovative.

Although I understand the reluctance to change the packaging paradigm for BDs, I am in favour of anything that helps our planet. I don't think cardboard snapper cases are the best solution though. Refer to An Inconvenient Truth DVD for some real eco-friendly packaging; I mean corn starch cellophane .

Not an altogether terrible idea. It depends on the quality of the cases. For instance, the There Will Be Blood DVD was released with a flimsy cardboard case. I have the two disc version and it's essentially garbage, the single disc being even worse. It's difficult to remove the discs without scratching them and it looks terrible because of the print job - and the cover image, but that's beside the point.

For CDs, I almost always prefer sturdy cardboard digipack cases to the plastic ones, but I like the current Blu-ray cases. It would just depend

I too will pass on cardboard packaging, I want durable packaging that will not be damaged and properly protect the disc. Not really interested in the green aspect, just want my investment protected.

See this is where new packaging done right could really change peoples opinions.

I remember those terrible cardboard abominations myself. Not sure you can get cheaper than that. However, if they come up with something that uses less, better for the environment, looks good and is sturdy, whats the harm? My movies are always on the shelf. I wouldn't mind having packaging that is slimmer and uses less waste.

Inconvenient truth ...yeah right. I'm so sick of Al Gore's bull. I loathe loathe loathe digi-paks, digi-books and environmentalists.

No thanks. I don't conserve but I do recycle. I live my life. I want a keep case to protect my investment. Personally, I have grown tired of the environmentalist-wacko propaganda that has been shoved down our throats constantly. This country has always moved forward technologically while developing ways to make less of an environmental impact. The answer to mankind's needs is not conservation but innovation. DiCaprio goes on Oprah to encourage us to switch out our incandescent bulbs for much more environmentally dangerous flourescent bulbs and then hops on his private jet and burns a ton of jet fuel. Barbara Streisand, Al Gore and the rest of the privileged, wacko leftists spew their bull and then retreat into their Escalades and head straight for their 10,000+ square foot mansions. Gimme a break. Limousine Liberals...hypocrites. Just what the world needs., a bunch of high school drop outs using their celebrity soapboxes to tell us how to live, who to vote for and what to believe. Again, no thanks. I wish they would shut up and stick to their day jobs.

Polypropylene is a commonly recycled material used in the production of keep cases and has the number "5" as its recycling symbol. It is a thermoplastic polymer, made by the chemical industry and used in a wide variety of applications, including packaging, textiles (e.g., ropes, thermal underwear and carpets), stationery, plastic parts and reusable containers of various types, laboratory equipment, loudspeakers and automotive components.

I suggest we encourage the exclusive use of the polypropylene keepcase and save a tree. Cardboard equals timber:

Sorry Alan, but silence is sometimes perceived as passive agreement. And there are many of us who disagree with this point of view.

Nobody will accuse you of being passive!

Although your current/future therapist might refer to you as passive-agressive after you get arrested for the shooting spree at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
