Default Did Fox Pull Mr & Mrs Smith?

Did Fox decide not to release Mr & Mrs Smith on Blu-ray on 3/13?

I had it on pre-order on Amazon & now they have no release date for it?

I also checked Home Theater Forum for releases for the week but they didn't show it as being released on 3/13 also.

This wasn't one of the releases Fox pulled a month ago. Did they change their mind on this title also?

The have it in the stores before the 3/13 release date?

Isn't that illegal?

At least if you've really seen it then they're going to release it. Amazon has the Blu-ray on their site with no release date. I have it on pre-order with them but pre-ordered it about a month ago.

That makes me feel a little better if you've actually seen a Blu-ray copy available. Again I'm not sure why they would have it available before the release date though. Are you sure it was a Blu-ray copy?

I should hope not, who would go to jail?

It's not illegal, but the store can get in trouble for it. I doubt they would for a re-release of a catalog film though.

Fox sent us Hoosiers last week, but surprisingly neither Eragon nor Smith arrived with it. Don't know what's going on over there. I noticed that DVDEmp had front and back cover scans for Hoosiers, but only a front graphic for Smith too, which may indicate they haven't recieved stock either, as Fox doesn't make rear scans available for download on their press site, only front cover art.

If Mr. and Mrs. Smith is pushed back it will be about the 4-5th movie that was originally scheduled for this week to be delayed. Ice Age, From Hell, Thomas Crown Affair, and at least one other im pretty sure were all originally scheduled for this date. Is it possible this has been a strategic move in order to ensure the maximum number of purchases for the release of Casino Royale for obvious press/format war related statistics?

I don't think it's been pushed back. It couldn't have been if people are already finding them in stores. And unless it's authored on a BD50 (doubtful for Fox), it probably isn't related to Casino Royale's expected higher sales volume requiring more discs be pressed. Sony has already sent us Pursuit of Happiness, The Holiday, Big Fish, and I've been told that Rocky should be here tomorrow. All of which I believe are BD50s. Though, I can't be sure about Rocky yet, obviously.

We don't always receive stuff that far in advance on BD yet. Some titles we do, some titles we don't recieve until the week of release. I don't know what's going on with Fox BD right now. But, I assume it's all related to whatever their reason for cancelling so many of their titles.

Something must have happened to the title. In my Amazon order the "Casino Royale" is shipping but the "Mr & Mrs Smith" is not & doesn't have a ship date.

I wonder if they are having a difficult time with keeping up with the demand. It seems to me that when a title is initially launched they can be sold out for quite some time.

It actually is a BD50. And DVDEmpire.com didn't get any in either.

Just got an e-mail from DVDEmpire.com:

"We have been informed by our distributors that the item 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith'
is no longer available and will not be available at any time in the
future."

So it apparently was deleted (plus Amazon.com doesn't have it available for Pre-Order)

Just got the same email. That is pretty wild, cancelling a title on it's release date. What exactly is fox up to? They have been doing some crazy stuff with their releases lately. Are the pulling everything back for BD+?

I've only seen one person (this thread I think) say that it was actually in a store. Anyone else seen it?

Its a currently un-implemented extra security layer that fox pushed for and that only BD has.

Septic Death & TI_27 what stores did you see it in? It's interesting you both saw it in stores but no one has copies of it online or in town.

Well I guess this answers the questions. It has been cancelled without a new date:

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...mith_Delay/516

It's funny how people see titles in stores that aren't even released & confirmed they were cancelled. What's up with that?

How Fox could do this with no notice to retailers or consumers is beyond my understanding. They should release a press release to let people know what's going on at the studio with Blu-ray.

At CES 2007 in January they said the format war would be over by the end of March & Blu-ray discs would be outselling HD-DVD by a 5:1 margin. Then they pull their titles & disappear. They keep announcing titles but they never show up.

Now they cancell all their releases for tomorrow (5 of them within 30 days of release & 1 on the release day). I'd fire the person over their Blu-ray department. This is totally unexcusable as a studio with no notice to retailers or consumers.

As a word of advice I wouldn't bank on "Eragon" next week & I have a feeling "Night At The Museum" is in doubt.

Does anyone have any idea what is up with Fox & releasing their titles on Blu-ray or does anyone have any links to press releases to explain what's going on?
