I just bought a sony s350 and am wondering about internet hook up?
My router is in the Kitchen and the player is in the living room.
Is there a way to have player in the living room hooked up without running a 50' cable
Thanks
G

Do you have a "wired" or "wireless" router? If you have a wired router you either have to run a 50ft cable or buy a "wireless" router. If it's a wireless router check your manual on how to hook it up in a wireless format. I prefer a wired router, b/c I want to make sure nothing interferes with the connection. It may be a pain to run a cable, but you only have to do it once. I think if you go wireless you have to connect some sort of transmitter on the player output that will send the signal to the router. The people who have wireless could probably post more on that subject.

If you have a wireless router you can get a wireless ethernet bridge for your player and connect it that way.

Default Ethernet wireless bridge

That will plug right in and hookups are easy?
I talk to the people at future shop (circuit city) and they know nothing as far as this!
They all said i have to wait for Sony to come out with something new.
Now are you sure this will work?
Thanks in advance

It will work. You have to configure the bridge as if it was any other wireless device. Once it is part of your network, you can connect anything to it and it will work. The bridge can be a little tricky to configure at first (at least, the Linsys I have was), but you only have to deal with that once.

Also, the only place I could find a wireless ethernet bridge was online (I think I got mine at newegg), and they're kind of expensive for what you're getting, but I had good luck with it.

Thanks for the link.
I currently have a 2wire wireless router.
Do you think the Linksys will work or and configure with different name brand?

It should, as long as your router supports IEEE 802.11b/g which it probably does.
