Default PLAYSTATION Network Cards rolling out to Walmart, Best Buy, Sams Club, Barnes & Noble

Not sure what the official name is, but with these anyone can buy PS Network content. Hopefully the cards will roll out worldwide ASAP so kids can get down with the Calling All Cars!

Kinda nice. I really liked the early version of the store letting you charge specific amounts. I dont care for the fixed amounts you 'add to your wallet' now. These cards might help me accept it a little more though.

PlayStation Network Cards Hit Japan (finally!)

Quote:
Well it's about time! Sony Japan has finally gotten around to creating a charge system for the PlayStation Store that everyone -- even importers like us -- can use.

The company announced today PlayStation Network Cards, prepaid cards that can be used to charge up your Japanese PSN wallet. The cards will be available starting 12/13, the day of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue's release, in 3,000 yen and 5,000 yen quantities. Sony has gone with a festive color scheme for the cards: red for the 3,000 yeners, and green for the 5,000 yeners.

Unlike the currently available Network Tickets, which are sold exclusively through convenience stores and consist of just a printed receipt, these cards can be purchased from any standard videogame retailer. They can also be kept forever and ever, if you're into collecting useless junk.

As with the Network Tickets, once you get your hands on one of these cards, you'll simply have to input a 12 digit code hidden on the back of the card into your PlayStation 3, and an early glimpse at Gran Turismo 5 will be forever yours.

You should be able to start importing these today/tomorrow if anyone's desperate to buy anything from the Japanese PLAYSTATION Store. No doubt some more shady online stores will give you the code via email so you don't need to pay/wait for shipping of the card.

What? You can still do that but in a different method, it's how I bought Pain. The way you do it is simply attempt to purchase something that costs more than what you have in your wallet, it'll ask if you want to add the exact amount required to complete the purchase.

I've seen even PSN developers comment on how hard it is to buy things from the PSN store, the above method has you downloading your purchase after about three clicks, with no left over change.

These will be great for buying games off of foreign PSN stores though.

it would definitely be a nice perk.

not to stir the pot a little here, but i am weary of placing my credit card 'on the internet (whatever that is)', due to a few (mind you, i mentioned a few) instances ive heard cc's being 'stolen' off the network. but then again, these are just stories.

stories that make me think twice about putting it online.
