Smile Do you keep the "box" from Box sets?

For instance, something like the Rambo Trilogy. Do you keep the box, or do you throw the box, and just keep the movies on your shelf? One of the guys I share our house with, unless it's a deluxe box, or something special, he throws it, and just keeps the movies on his bookshelf. as if he bought them one by one. We were dicussing it tonight.

Personally, I keep the boxes. Just curious

Cheers

If it's a box set I throw the box away. Same with slip covers, I throw those out as well. I like my movies nice, neat, and evenly spaced. Boxes and slipcovers throw this outta whack. It's my only pet peeve when it comes to my movies.

With Rambo, I threw the box away since it was regularly packaged Blu's. With Dirty Harry (grrrr) I kept the box since it was specially packaged Blu's. Matrix I will probably end up keeping the box since they are specially packaged. It all depends on how the packaging is done overall.

For me it depends on the particular packaging. If the box is required in order to maintain a complete and unexposed surrounding of the discs, then YES, I keep the box (example is the DVD release of 'The Matrix Ultimate Collection.') However, if the films in the box set each have individual cases then I throw the box away (example is the 'Spider-man' Blu-ray trilogy). If anything gets released with those stupid digibook cases I will not touch them!!! Example of this is the 'Harry Potter' gift set. What a retarded casing job they did on that release!!! I got it for reviewing, so thankfully I didn't have to pay money. However, after reviewing the giftset, I printed off my own covers, purchased some empty BD cases, and gave each film its own PROPER little house where it could nestle in nicely with the rest of my collection... THAT'S how much I hate unconventional packaging!

P.S. I don't throw them away... I RECYCLE THEM! The extra materials are a waste of natural resources in the first place. If they stopped creating excess, then we would have less garbage/recycling. REDUCE, reuse, recycle... nobody ever considers the first of those three!!!

I keep all my slip covers and boxes. It enhances the way the collection looks I think.

I keep the boxes in a desk draw. I prefer unity.

I like this post, for several reasons.... As for the Harry Potter Giftset, I didn't even think about that! From where do you purchase the covers and BD cases?

I keep the box as it makes them look more organized. However, the box for the Batman Begins Giftset I threw away as it was a flimsy cardboard box.

i'm contemplating throwing the box from the matrix trilogy away but the movie boxes are so thin & flimsy. unless i can get a custom cover for a standard bluray box for each movie, i may end up keeping this one.

otherwise, i also like unity in my cabinet and like to have each individual space filled as full as it can be, otherwise it looks like a movie is missing if i keep them in a box and have to move the entire box.

the boxes really upset me @ this point, take the indiana jones or star wars trilogy on standard dvd that came in boxes, these i kept b/c they were kinda cool. but when i continue to buy movies and they slowly move towards the end of a shelf as it fills up, i'm faced with either moving the entire box and leaving a gapping hole in the shelf or removing them from the box which these i don't want to do.

I threw out the Spider Man box a couple of weeks ago. I let it annoy me from the day of its release and then I just chucked it in a frenzy of house cleaning.

I won't buy digibooks and I'm not going near any Harry Potter sets until all the movies are out.

Slip covers no, Box sets yes. Alot of times for box sets the cases inside are smaller than a typical case.

I agree, but i hang up the slipcovers on my wall. There like small posters and they look pretty good.

Depends on the set. Matrix needs the box. With Spiderman I threw the box away because there wasn't anything special about it, just something to stick 3 regular bd cases in.

Just give me a plain white cover with the title. I could care less about the artwork. I don't need to show off my collection.

I never thought about it, but I guess the BDs would look neater without the boxes and slip covers. What about Planet Earth? Anybody throw this box out?
In my collection, I kept them the way they came. Maybe I will remove the boxes, and slip covers to see how I like it.

Usually. I threw out the slip cover for my Hitchcock Signature collection DVDs, but that's about it.
