Tombstone - worth picking up?

The Tombstone reviews here and on other sites all describe a mediocre transfer. Because of that, I've held out on buying this one for a long time, even though it would ordinarily be a must-buy for me.

A lot of years have passed since it was released and there doesn't seem to be any stirrings of an improved re-release. Should I just grab the existing blu-ray? Perhaps it's not really that terrible (reviewers do tend to be more picky than most viewers)? Or maybe it really is so bad that I'll be really annoyed and frustrated when watching.
