I'm sure this has been discussed but is it possible to just get the box somehow if I bought the 3 films as they came out?

You mean the packaging box without the disks inside? I don't believe you can since they are specially packaged for the content they carry.

I suppose in a few years we'll have to dig up this thread to see who is right. Theoretically, of course, even if we assume there currently are no plans to continue the franchise, that doesn't preclude the possibility of a fourth movie from ever being made.

Even if all the rumors are bunk, it doesn't mean there aren't plans to continue the franchise. They just may not be at that stage yet (hiring Depp).
