Here's the deal. I'll drop a DVD at the post office on a Thursday evening and Netflix doesn't get it until Monday. Then they send out my next movie and it arrives on Wed. That's a six day turnaround and before I switched to the unlimited plan, I was mailing on a Thursday and receiving on Saturdays.
What's weird is that I don't even rent that many movies, not even after I switched over to the unlimited plan. Anyone else in the Houston area getting these sort of delays? |

I'm not in your area, but I've been having similar delays lately. Although I'm kinda glad it happened this week cuz I get Indy 4 and Eastern Promises now. But it is kinda frustrating when it used to be a 3 day turn around max.

As an example; I dropped off my Netflix envelope last Thur afternoon, at the post office, yet Netflix claims to have just received it today (Mon). Based on a year's worth of service, I normally would have received my next movie on Saturday. That's an extra fours days, assuming my new DVD arrives on Wednesday. Blockbuster Online is looking better and better. |

i would contact them about it. if everything was fine before, there's no reason you should have this kind of service now.
i highly doubt they are purposely delaying the shipments. i have 4 at a time blu-ray and it's been the same for me since i started 2 years ago. if anything ever does goes weird, it's because of my mail man. |

The "Phantom Throttling" as whispered about in hushed Urban Legends only applies to whether or not you get first picks at New Releases. That's IT.
Any delivery problems are solely the province of the delivery center, which doesn't ship or receive on Saturdays, and your area mail service, which may or may not be delivering the mail slower lately from fuel costs. (Just moved further west in Massachusetts a year or two ago, and saw my local center change from Worcester, MA to Hartford, CT, which may account for my recent sudden two-day turnarounds instead of overnight.) |

to better understand it, Netflix gets a discount for bulk mail and one of the prerequisites of that is it must be pre-sorted by Netflix. So your delivery times are expedited due to this fact.
When you return the item, there are several variables......

Netflix probably has their hands full just operating as usual. I somehow doubt they are intentionally messing with YOUR account. Think of the volume of discs going through there.
