I'm sure this had been discussed before but I'm gonna ask any way. Do you need a special TV to watch the 3-D movies? I have a 65 inch Sony Bravia DLP. Sorry for the noob question.

Current 3D like Journey to the Center of the Earth: no. Future 3D more akin to Imax: it's unclear whether new displays will be required or just new players.
3D works better when the picture fills up more of your field of view, like larger screens or sitting closer to the screen. The effect was amazing watching Journey... on an FP; water pellets floating around the room, yo-yo's smacking you in the face, and it didn't matter if you were sitting straight on or to the side for the effect to work. Some displays, like CRT RPs aren't as compatible with 3D for some reason. But, from experience LCD and all it's derivatives work well with 3D. And from memory, DLP works well. I can't wait for a better quality of 3D than the current color skewed version though. |
