Default Star Wars on Blu-ray?

Star Wars on Blu-ray?
Quote:
I want to point out that a number of exciting tidbits were mentioned at the event. For example, Lucasfilm will definitely release high definition versions of the Star Wars movies when Blu-Ray makes it to market. Considering how reluctant they were to enter DVD, this is definitely great news for the future.

Good news indeed. I'm not a SW fan but I can recognize a popular series and it's potential HD market.

I am sure that most here want at least one or at least the original trilogy in our Blu-ray collections.

I'll only be buying Revenge of the Sith. I got the first two and the last three all on DVD and I think that's good enough.

Lets all reserve judgment until they are released and read the reviews.

I'm sure they will look great but I only think that I would enjoy seeing Revenge of the Sith in HD.

i do not think they will release anything short of spectacular, especially when it comes to 3 of the greatest movies ever made! and by 3 i mean a new hope, empire strikes back and return of the jedi!

The studio and stores wanted that to tie-in to the Clone Wars release.

It's a simple re-release, no reason to purchase it if you already own it.

So what's the big deal? Jeez!

Well... first off I'm sure they'll only release the latest versions of these movies, probably with even more tweaks (I believe the plan now is to replace the Phantom Menace Yoda puppet with a CG model, etc).

So Han still won't shoot first, etc.

And THEN we gotta hope they don't go and do something stupid like keeping the surround channel music tracks the wrong way round on Episode IV like they did on the most recent DVD editions (and then denied that it was a mistake!!)

So consider me extreeeeeeeemely cautious about Star Wars on Blu.

I'll re-buy the movie if they do that.

Indeed I am. I enjoy a lot of things people apparently thought were bad. Including Revenge of the Sith or Indian Jones 4. Half the time when people say it's bad they ave no reason. People have always got it into their heads that the original is the best. I remember asking someone why he thought the sequel to something was worse and he could not give me a response so it's very much a fad to bash on some movie sequels.

It's stupid lines like: "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil". Yes we get that you were forced to be a Sith to save your wife, but the whole transformation from "Good Jedi" to "Serial Child Killer" in a span of minutes is ridiculous! I was really hoping Lucas would flesh out the transformation sequence but he completely dropped the ball. It's hard to believe that people who are so in tuned with their emotions can flip a switch like that. I think the Death of his mother as the "flip" should've been saved for the 3rd movie and it would be more genuine.

I liked how Vader turns good in EP6, as it's the life of his son brings out the good in him. That simply wasn't the case in EP3. The "I need him" excuse doesn't work for me.

I think Lucas should've been more clear here and if he had Anakin Kill Windu, he could've used that as a scapegoat and said that the good of the force leaves you once you kill your kin (ie, a Jedi) and you're vulnerable to the dark side. Nothing like that happened. Instead we get: "The jedi are now our enemies. Now go kill a bunch of kids" "Duh, ok, Master".
