Default Looney Tunes Platinum (Blu-ray) or Golden (DVD) Collection - which would you go for?

Obviously Blu-ray would be ideal. The Golden Collection was, I believe, cancelled - or at least, I'm assuming there would have been more cartoons to choose from, though I'm not a Looney Tunes expert.

Do you think there's a good chance that the Blu-ray series will continue, and eventually encompass everything the Golden Collection had (and beyond)? What overlap is there already?

Just a guess, that if enough people keep buying the existing BD collections, then WB should be keeping releasing new collections.

Canada Looney Tunes

I've been thinking about getting these, but the Canadian shipping might prevent me!

The Platinum collection certainly seems to have run out of steam. Volume 3 should have been released by now (Vol. 1 & 2 were released Fall 2011 and Fall 2012, respectively). I'm hoping they continue with the series.

Hmm. That's disappointing. I imagine the two Blu-ray sets would still be worth getting on their own, though. Thanks for the information.

Instead of Warner Bros. releasing the Golden Collection on blu-ray under it's original set title, they just changed it to Platinum for the blu-ray release? I have all 6 volumes of the Golden Collection on dvd.

I have almost a complete collection of both sets. I'm only missing vol.6 of the Golden Collection and only vol.3 of the Platinum collection.

If you wondering which is best, it depend son your taste, but I think both are worth having.

It's a shame there isn't more interest in these. Apparently there are over 1,000 Looney Tunes/Merry Melodies shorts. The Golden Collection DVDs didn't even cover half of them, and the Blu-rays only about 180 or so. There are a number of them widely scattered as extras on other features, there is some overlap there, but not completely. It's pretty complicated to figure out what is where, and what isn't released. Wiki is a big help though.
It seems the chances of being able to collect them all (not including the "politically incorrect" burned books) is slim to none. It's amazing, what is perceived as racism, was just the style back then. I don't think people of color even cared then, caricature was the style of animation back then, and there is plenty of white caricature there too.
Same for Tom & Jerry. Volume 2 was delayed over some PC nonsense, and now it seems they have just said "screw it".
