Home Media Magazine reports the results of The High-Def Disc Awards luncheon was part of HD-3 conference held Nov. 11 at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES — Despite joining the Blu-ray Disc camp just after the end of the format war this year, Paramount Home Entertainment scored huge wins at the second High-Def Disc Awards.

The studio’s new The Godfather: The Coppola Restoration Collection Blu-ray boxed set won for best of show and best catalog title. The Marvel Studios production Iron Man won for best theatrical Blu-ray title, and DreamWorks’ Transformers Blu-ray won for best audio quality. It’s the second straight audio win for Transformers; the title won last year with its HD DVD version.

The High-Def Disc Awards luncheon was part of HD-3, a one-day conference held Nov. 11 at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. HD-3 was produced by Home Media Magazine in cooperation with The Hollywood Reporter.

A panel of critics determined the winners from submissions of Blu-ray Disc titles released between Oct. 1, 2007, and Sept. 30, 2008.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s Ratatouille also took home two awards, for best picture quality and best animated title.

Well, the story says the winners were from titles released between October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008. So Hulk didn't qualify.

If it would count, I'd nominate Baraka in terms of image quality for next year's awards.

Notice how all major studios AND Lionsgate all got some type of award.

Not really surprising.

I find the Harry Potter one interesting considering that The Godfather Collection won overall, but perhaps it was only a box-set/collection for a new release

I am saving some money to get some box sets after the holiday season. I definitely plan on getting the godfather set, along with Matrix and Spider Man. I can't wait.

Good list. I think I agree with most of it but would need to check the release dates on some to know for sure.

I never saw The Godfather Part 3. Is it really as bad as people say it is? Perhaps it's just a matter of Parts 1 and 2 being so good that 3 couldn't possibly live up to them.

It was nominated for Best Picture losing to Dances With Wolves, so no it's not as bad people make it out to be, but it doesn't hold a candle to 1 or 2.

It's the second choice.

I don't know man, it's pretty bad. Sophia Coppola and Andy Garcia (to a lesser extent) are painful to watch.

The Godfather Part III isn't all that bad a movie. That's not to say it's great either. It had the unfortunate circumstance of being pitted against a far superior gangster movie (Goodfellas) in the fall of 1990. Dances With Wolves had a lot of politically correct hype revolving around it as well. Sophia Coppola turned out to be a much better director than an actor on screen.

Bet it was a little thumb of the nose to the HD-DuD version, and a "thanks for being so vocal about it" to M. Bay

"Best overall extras: Heroes Season 2"

Really?

There has got to be something better that was released in that timeframe?
