Default Question regarding Sam BD-P1000

In the manual it says if outputing sound via 5.1 analog and viewing a DVD, that the sound would be stereo and not DD or DTS. Is this true or has it been corrected with the latest firmware upgrade?

Yes according to page 22 on the instruction manual you need to use the digital output of the Samsung connected to an A/V receiver that has Dolby Digital and DTS decoding when watching DVD’s in surround sound.
The analog 5.1 channel outputs on this model are used for BLU-RAY movies only. The audio formats are technically superior on BLU-RAY and to keep costs down Samsung did not support DVD surround sound decoding in the player. Your surround sound amp will take care of this for you with a digital connection.
