need help with denon 988 and ps3 - Blu-ray Forum

i cant seem to get the dolby true hd working from my ps3. when its plugged it says MULTI CHANNEL IN 7.1 but the display is supposed to say dolby true hd when a true hd movie is on. is it maybe because its plugged 7.1 when the movie is only 5.1 truehd?

the PS3 does not Bitstream Lossless audio, instead it decodes intenally first into a PCM signal.

press the 'select' or 'display' button on your PS3 remote, you will see what audio is being output.

If you want the receiver to display TrueHD or Dts-HD MA, you need a player that can Bitstream Lossless audio.

thanks crackin hedz. So it just means my ps3 is decoding the soundtrack and not my amp. interesting.
