can anyone shed some knowledge. 1) can you change your psn name, if so 2) how the $@$# do you do it?

I don't think you can do it. Your old one is gonna be with you the day you created it.

Yeah I was trying to do that last night actually I think the only way you can do it is making a new profile on your ps3 and making a new name but you have to start all over and trophys etc.

You cannot change it. I even contacted Sony about it and they said I could not. You can delete your existing one and start all over, but your trophies and all other stats will be gone. I for one hate this rule and hope they consider changing it in the future.

hmmm, this might be an idea, i don't think i have any trophies, i'll have to check.

I think XBL got it right when they give you the ability to change your username, but at a cost of 800 points ($10). I wish it were cheaper, I would have already done it.

I don't see what the big deal is with wanting to change a name, unless you created it when you are young and are embarassed by it now (BSBFan4Life) or were swept off your feet by some girl in middle school and made your name a tribute to her (LuvUMandy218).

Just pick a name and live with it.

Or deal with losing your trophies.

Personally, I would hate if it all my friends kept changing their names. Even if the new names automatically replaced the old ones on my friends list, I'd still have to figure out who they each were again.

Yeah, I learned a good name to pick from playing socom on ps2. I used CaliLivin for a while, but it was so annoying when people kept saying Calvin LOL So I go by the one I do now ever since.

Well I guess I should've pressured you into legaly changing your name from Miguel to Calvin if you want to keep up with your old user name.

I play under 5 names online. That way, if I get booted by someone being a jerk, I can rejoin and paste him.

I normally play my primary account for games off line, though.

Can you imagine how many people will constantly change their username if they didn't charge?

my psn name isn't the same as my blu-ray.com id and i want to change it. i could care less if you see no reason to change a name.

Yeah, I think all but one person on my friends list has a second sub account or has changed their name. Me, I kept it from day one. I did have to make a sub account for running a dedicated server on Warhawk and Rainbow Six Vegas but thats because its the only way to do that. I cannot stand people who change their name.
