Actually, that would be double the power but that's not even right. The amp would be the one with the power issues, not the speakers.

well which speakers to get with the hd reciever is really confusing me and i dont have much to spend on the speakers im just trying to get hd sound as cheap as possible,if i could find some cheap speakers to go with the reciever that would be great although after spending £250 on a reciever you dont want to ruin it by buying rubbish speakers.

With the gear listed in Driver King's signature, you can stay in the "cheap" area of a budget, and not get "rubbish sound" Whenever buying an "All-in-one" setup, such as the onkyo one you're referring to...... you're sacrificing quality, and Money, for a bit of convenience....(as far as not shopping around to piece things together) and although some HTIB are better than others...... you can certainly do better with the money if you shop around. |

Most receivers have difficulty driving 4 Ohm speakers. Usually, it is best to use separate amplifiers along with separate Pre/pro that are capable of driving low impedance speakers. When the nominal impedance is 4 Ohms, it means that for different frequencies, the load may actually drop below 4. This may result in overheating and possible failure of the receiver.
