Samsung 50PNA650 vs Panasonic TH-50PZ800U/85U - Blu-ray Forum

I live in a small town with no big electronics stores nearby. So, I can't go and look at both TV's to compare.

Just looking for the folks that had these two on their short list of TVs. Which TV did you decide on and what were the determining factors? Thanks in advance!

I looked at both of these and preffered the Panasonic b/c I felt they had better black level performance. I ended up getting an older Pioneer Kuro Elite

that I found on clearance and couldn't be happier. IMO, when it comes to televisions assuming all else is equal choose the one with better black level performance.

A good rule of thumb for plasma:

1) Pioneer
2) Panasonic (close second) [80U/85U are very good, 800U/850U are tops]
.
3) Samsung (distant third)
.
.
4-?) Everything else

Good stuff. I will look into finding a Kuro on a deal otherwise I think the 800u is going to be my #1.
