I have a question before I buy one, if I have a bluetooth keyboard hooked up while I'm playing a game, and I press the PS button to message someone from the XMB or chat in game or whatever, can I use the keyboard to type for both cases or do I need to use the controller?
Thanks in advance! |

I've used a usb keyboard since back in the PS2 days (SOCOM, Everquest Online Adventures, and Final Fantasy XI supported it) and use that same keyboard on my PS3.
Not every PS3 game supports the use of a full keyboard (ironically, SOCOM: Confrontation is one of the most glaring omissions), but practically every aspect of the XMB that requires you to type in some way does, including editing photo/music/video information (if it's allowed to be changed, like media name, albums/folders, arist, notes, etc), the web-browser (I am typing this on my USB Keyboard on the PS3 browser as we speak), and of course the Friendlist messaging system. So short answer, yes. You can use the keyboard to type messages in the xmb. |

Can anyone recommend some good bluetooth keyboards as well? That RocketFish one looks pretty nice, a couple of people said the signal drops often, but for the most part only nice things to say.
I'd like some other suggestions please and thank you! |

I was looking into the Sony Keypad thing, but I still dont' think I'd like to have it sitting on my controller while I'm playing games. That's the only thing holding me back from it.
@Marine Mike: Ya I saw that one, I think that would be my number one pick, unfortunately I live in Canada and it won't ship from amazon.com to here, and none of the Canadian sites (amazon.ca, bestbuy.ca, futureshop.ca) sell it apparently... |

Reason why this blutooth keyboard is cheaper than the other ones as it doesn't include the blu-tooth dongle, which is fine for the ps3 since it is built in (never tested it though, some cell phone companies may disable/limit this type of connection as well) Bluetooth is bluetooth, it should work with your cell phones if they have bluetooth capability. |
