Default I've been buying 3D combo packs to future-proof my collection; then UHD happened.

I don't have a 3D display, but when 3D Blus started to come around, I figured it would be smart to buy them for if and when I upgrade my display. Now, however, UHD displays seem to be the new thing, with that coming UHD Blu-ray, and I still haven't upgraded my display. So now I'm left with having to decide between buying UHD Blus or 3D Blus. (Buying both would just be too pricey.) Not all releases offer both versions, but many still do (including the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse).

Are all displays going forward pretty much dropping the 3D technology? If so, that kind of makes all the 3D Blus I've been buying a waste of money. OLED looks like the technology I'd be most likely to replace my plasma with.
