Default Can we just have one thread for the demise of BD?

I don't know if it is just me, but everytime I log on it appears there is a new large amount of threads on some blog that said BD is worthless or BD will never be more then niche or some new tech that will be the next BD killer.

It is just tiring that for every insane blog (i.e. "BD is evil and their lasers will be used to kill us") there appears to be 3 threads "anyone read ..." (anyone read BD players will kill us", 3 threads "is he right in ....." ("I am scared that I will be killed my BD player") and 3 threads "look at the stupid thing ......" ("how dumb must a person be to believe BD players can kill us") and one person who is not smart enough to realize those other 9 threads that will just use the title ("BD is evil and their lasers will be used to kill us")

Don't get me wrong under normal times I would not think it worth the legitimacy of having one sticky thread on this, but at this point it has become a joke because in many of the forums there is a handful of these threads at the top.

Can't we have one thread in the OT forum titled "stupid reasons why BD is doomed and who/what might kill it" for all the blogs and anyone that wants to discuss them and anyone that starts a new thread on the subject reprimanded?

makes good sense to me. or people can just stop posting them unless it contributes some new insight we haven't already read about. it's a forum though, what one person deems interesting another might dislike. the stories will either become popular, deleted, or lost among the other threads.

I will be really pissed if BD does get killed before I transfer over all my movies that need to be transferred.

it's not going to happen, no reason in even discussing it. it is a format that is here to stay and the lower the prices go the more people will begin to adopt it. same thing happened with dvd. stores are doing their part by pushing bluray players and consumers will eventually pick one up, it may take years, but again, same thing happened before dvd became mainstream. bluray is still a fairly new format even if it's been out for a few years. in a couple years if it's still at the same place it is today then maybe it's time to worry. for now, let's just give it some time to grow.

like DoYouBlu said, it won't happen, that is what makes this constant barrage of threads so tiresome. None of the original articles use facts to make a point. So it is a rehash of the same tripe. People don't like upgrading (except to anything other then BD, since they always assume something else is coming down the pipeline), BD is not selling well (because it did not miraculously outmatch DVD the first day it came out), it is too expensive(everyone is too poor)...... you point to the facts once and it should be enough. But what happens? different bloggers make the same boring claims, different people bring these blogs here and all of a sudden you have a few threads in the news section in the OT section in the movie section.....

There have been a lot of "doom and gloom" threads/stories lately. Much more than normal.

Yeah, always makes me wonder what's up (what's coming) although in this case, like someone mentioned in another thread, it's probably the approaching holidays causing it. If blu-ray does well, alternatives will suffer so the FUD-sters are out in full-force trying to make sure that doesn't happen. Anyway, yeah, it's a little ridiculous. Frequently, the top 10 for that section is dominated by blu-ray demise articles.

It's probably Blu competitors (Toshiba, Microsoft) spreading FUD to keep people from buying Blu this holiday season.

I think it's just a bunch of digital download groupies trying to force those of us who support Blu Ray to think like they do. So they use fear tactics and try to convince us we're throwing our money away on a so-called "doomed" format. Maybe Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are paying these people to post these insane stories.

We generally just remove those threads as it's always the same stuff and it doesn't contribute to the discussion. Just report the threads.
