I am going shopping this weekend for some new speakers. I have it norrowed down to either - Paradigm - Definitive - B&W. Can anyone give me some pros and cons about their experiences.
However, we dont need another Bose style thread. No bashing just opinions. Thanks PB |

It's hard to know what to recommend without knowing your budget. Paradigm is a good value. B&W is higher quality, particularly the 800 line, but pricier. Definitive absolutely sucks in my opinion, but I have a friend who is enamored with his DT speakers. I just find them very imprecise and loose sounding. Polk is higher quality and maybe a better value than Paradigm.
I highly recommend B&W, if you can splurge on the good stuff. |

Speaker choice is very difficult over the internet...
The 3 that you have listed are all very good, so you should listen to them all. Make sure you bring a title that you are very familar with. I have Paradigms and am very happy with them. When you listen to them I recommend that you go straight to the reference series - big difference to their entry level line. |

The B&W's that I am looking at are the 604 S3 fronts, the LCR600 S3 center, and the 602 S3 rears. shown here: http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/display.aspx?infid=815 |

For cheap satellites, I'd go with Polk and other such brands. But not Bose.
![]() Others have recommended great brands for other speakers. Another such brand is Eltax. Their Liberty bookshelf speakers are very good in terms of music fidelity and also home theater. For subs, there's Hsu (I've not experienced them), REL and Velodyne. Buy the right size for your room. Too big and it becomes boomy. fuad |
