Default Movies this year that have stuck with you the most.

I saw Hacksaw Ridge on Monday and I still can't stop thinking about especially the scenes
[Show spoiler]where the guy sits up screaming and he and the other soldier get blown to pieces and the scene were Smitty (I think it was him) using the top half of the soldier as a shield.

Hacksaw Ridge is at the top of that list. Another is Hell or High Water, strong performances in both.

Exactly my list except I haven't seen other people... Would add Hell or High Water but other 3 are spot on.

The Neon Demon held up for me. I know a lot of folks harp on it for being style over substance or whatnot, but for me it's a fable and an incredibly mesmerizing experience on-par with a Kubrick film. I think about it often and it might be my favorite of the year.

Was smitten with The Wailing, but I'm not sure if it'll hold up to repeat viewings. I like the experience of watching it, but when you step back and think about the plot overall, it could have used some tightening.

Nerve stuck with me a lot more than I expected. I know it's kinda contrived and safe entertainment, but that's kinda why I liked it--I felt it had a good, positive ending that shed positive light on human nature, when it could have easily taken a darker route. I appreciate the film for doing that.

At least half of The Shallows would have stuck with me--I felt the film was at its best when it focused on the survival aspects and the dilemma of the situation.

X-Men: Apocalypse will likely stick with me, I thought it was well-made with good character moments and plenty of cool scenes. Star Trek: Beyond will stick with me at least a little, and it might actually grow on me more as time goes on. I'm a little more forgiving of Batman v Superman now that the ultimate cut is out, and that will stick with me a bit. And Doctor Strange will stick at least with its mirrorverse scenes and the finale.

Not sure about others I rated highly--Arrival, Zootopia--and it'll take a lot for Rogue One to disappoint me personally.

That's all I got for now.

The Neon Demon and Knight of Cups for me. They're more like experiences than movies. Conventional aspects of film making like story structure get thrown out the window and I love them for it.

Hacksaw Ridge and Hell or High Water are the two the first come mind. They are also, IMHO, the two best films of the year. I saw HOHW back in August and could not wait to get the Blu on the first day. I saw Hacksaw the first week it was released back in November and still sticks with me. Can't wait for the Blu in February.

Nothing yet, I have a feeling Arrival or Manchester by the Sea would do it but both won't be released here this year.

I have yet to see some of the Off beat movies people mentioned. From what I have seen, Arrival has stuck with me for a while and Captain Fantastic is one of the fantastic movies I have seen this year.It strike chord with me in all the departments action, directing and Cinematography.

Probably I, Daniel Blake but I'm not sure if it's mostly because I'm from Northern England and can really see it in parallel to current events. Would be interesting to hear what Americans think of it.

Neon Demon has stuck with me quite a bit, if only for the old woman who walked out during the
[Show spoiler]lesbo necro scene
. High-Rise swam round my mind for a few weeks after I saw it.

Other than that, a few scenes in films have stuck around, the scene where
[Show spoiler]Michelle Williams tries to forgive Casey Affleck
near the end of Manchester by the Sea probably stands out as one of the best scenes of performance.
