Imported my 40GB PS3 almost a year ago know no problems what so ever it took 5 days for delivery. So if your thinking of importing one just do it.
P.S It is a PS3 you are talking about right and not a stand lone player.

Why do you want to import one, if I may ask? Is it for the lower price (although you'll need to add the shipping and UK-VAT), or is it for having a Region-A (BD) / Region-1 (DVD) player?

Get a PS3 it's multi voltage where as with a stand alone player you will need a voltage converter which could damage your product. But even if it doesn't it will still make a lot of noise.

And will probaley in the long damage your player any way. So till multi region players are available your best going with the PS3.

I did.
