Is Amazon.com the cheapest place to buy Blu-Rays in the USA on a daily basis? I'm not talking about the every-so-often one-day deal at Target or anything... but the best place for generally good prices?

I'd say overall yes since it often price-adjusts to match sales by Tower, retail, etc. I buy the majority of my blu-ray from Amazon. You just need to be patient and wait for the sale to pop up. For instance, The Proposition for $10.99, Kill Bill 1&2 for $29. I jumped on these sales and they only lasted for 2 or 3 days, but I never saw anything like them anywhere else.

In the past it was generally true that Amazon was the cheapest place to get Blu-rays. At this point, I would say it is no longer true. Thier prices have risen slightly over the last couple of months and other sites have began pricing titles at similar prices to Amazon. Look around a lot before purchasing, there are many good deals out there that are not on Amazon.
A few things to keep in mind... 1) Tax and shipping charges vary by website, take all of that into consideration before thinking you found the cheapest price. 2) You can always get Blus cheaper by waiting several weeks after it's release date or by buying it from a 3rd party seller on Amazon a few weeks after release date. |

Most of the time it is the best. I live in Canada, mega-sales are rare and there is 13% tax. Futureshop/Bestbuy sometimes will have a sale on some blu-rays from 16.99-19.99.
I like to buy off of amazon.com and ship it to my cousin's house in Michigan. Someone always makes a trip to Michigan once a month. Even with the exchange rate, it is cheaper. Also, try kijiji/craigslist sometimes you get lucky. I got the Matrix Ultimate Collection, Pirates Box set and Dirty Harry Collection all sealed for $170 CAD. That's about $14 per movie. ![]() |

They're pretty good with pricing. Shipping is a ***** but i've you've got prime, you're set. Otherwise, you have to spend enough to get the free shipping and sometimes it's been good with a 2 day lag time and sometimes it's taken me almost 2 weeks to recieve my goods.
Other times.....i can't wait for it so i just buy it from BB...they're not too bad and the reward zone card is not bad. For example...Dark Knight is cheapest on Amazon but I'll be getting it @ BB...I can't wait lol |

I have been shopping at DeepDiscount.com. Right now they are running a special of 25% of on ALL their blu-ray movies. They posted two discount codes, Supersale or DVDTalk. I bought 8 films and saved over $100.00. I think the sale is running through the 23rd of this month.

Amazon is rarely the cheapest.
Check DVD Price Search (www.dvdpricesearch.com) Some examples: Wall-E 3 Disc Deep Discount #1 at $25.76 Amazon #3 at $25.97 The Third Man #1 DVD Box Office $27.72 Amazon #2 at $28.99 I have only seen Amazon the cheapest constantly about 40% of the time. Deep Discount DVD has a much better record. With that said, I do have to say Amazon is quite possibly the easiest online retailer to order from. But, why limit your self to just one or two retailers? Hit up a price comparison site like DVD Price Search and go with the cheapest. |

It definitely is for me. No sales tax, free 2-day shipping (Prime), and the prices are usually $2-5$ cheaper the first week then about $10 cheaper after the new releases go up to $34.99 at physical stores (i.e. Target, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart).
The only time I ever buy blurays from someone else is when I have some Best Buy reward zone gift certificates or if there is a great sale somewhere. |

On a daily basis, I would pick Amazon as the online merchant more likely than not to have the least expensive prices. Will they have the best price? Probably the majority of the time, but not overwhelmingly so.

Amazon has its own VISA card (I think through Chase). You get $30 bucks off your first order for signing up and you accumulate 3% credit when you buy something on Amazon.com, distributed to you as an Amazon.com gift certificate in increments of $25. OK, re-reading your post, you say cash back of 3%-5%. If you literally mean cash back and not a gift certificate, I'll say no card that I know of. Thanks for letting me blabber on.

www.tower.com is better if your outside the USA.
Delivery - Amazon.com = up to 4 weeks, Tower = 5 working days Price - comparable Taxes - Since tower sends one item at a time you never get import tax added. With amazon.com, they put the receipt on the outside of the package so you will ALWAYS get import tax if you order more than 1 Blu ray. Tower do charge $5 shipping per item, but compared to the 16 pounds tax I got added for buying Kill bill 1 and 2 from amazon.com to their $39 offer, its nothing. I Could of bought KB1 and 2 cheaper from the UK so it was a waste of time. Also, i've never had to worry about my tower orders, they are usually in my door before I even worry, thats a great feeling. The only benefit of amazon.com is that the pre-order is up months in advance. Where as tower only put it there about 3 weeks prior to a release in some cases. Making it awfully tempting to go with the amazon.com pre-order. But i've learnt to ignore it. |
