Got one, does nothing like every other power conditioner. Just a way for rich people to waste their money and retail stores to make 55-65%. Save the money on the power strip and buy a nicer tv/receiver/speakers....

I've had a MAX 1000+ for the last 11 years. Great product. I like the delayed power on/off for my power amps.
My 1000+ burned out about 6 years ago and they fixed it for free since it had a lifetime warranty. I don't think the new Panamax's have lifetime warranties anymore. |

I don't want to make myself out to be an expert, but unless you are having a problem with RFI noise, I would say better to get a big battery backup that can protect you from brownouts. Some of the more expensive Panamax units can do that, but the cheaper ones don't really do much. I would say unless there is a particular feature (like the delayed off, or trigger controls or something) that you are looking for, don't buy it out of fear, just get a decent power strip or battery backup. |

I have heard similar conflicting arguments. I was speaking with tech/installer who had been in the business for 12 years. According to him, these power conditioners are not necessary. He also said, to see a noticeable difference, the unit needed to be in the thousand dollar and up price tag.
I was debating on getting a 5300, but now i am not sure. This guy also said my APC power strip was good enough. That thing cost me 20 bucks at Frys. ![]() What do you guys think? |

The real benefit of a line conditioner is peace of mind. I know that that my gear is protected from any electrical damage and if anything should happen it would be covered by Panamax's warranty. There are some companies that don't put much into these boxes, but the Panamax's are well built and very sturdy peices of hardware.
The only time anyone should need a battery back-up is for potential hard-drive memory loss(Tivo or computer) or a bulb in a projector/dlp set, they need time to cool before shutting down. |
