Sorry if this question has been posted before, but with the Wii still doing ridiculous sales why doeesn't PS3 emphsize and make more wii like games with theyre wireless and siaxis capability?
For instance, I've played the wii.. it's fun, it's cute> but a good demo would be ps3 High Velocity Bowling VS wii bowling. Just as fun, but the graphics are far and beyond anything wii could ever come up with. My friends who have wii's have said the same thing. They play HVB and love the hell out of it along with the exclamation in regards to the movement control "I didn't know the PS3 could do that" Just wondering if there is a legit reason, technically or monetarily speaking. |

Yeah, copyright infringement. Start doing more, and market it as such and you'll get sued. Not to mention the Nintendo (wii) is getting sued by if I remember correct a european company who claim to have copyrighted the technology before they put it out.

So far I have only used the tilting abilities of the PS3 pad once on a demo of the game Echochrome and it was disastrous. Moving the pad around was almost impossible. I just hope this issue is only with that one game or I would just be content with using the buttons only.

Works well for controlling the little snake-like camera in Rainbow Six Vegas (several reviews said it was way too sensitive, but I can't figure out why they said that)
works well in Mirror's Edge. I like controlling boats with it in GTA4. I hear the new Socom makes good use of it. |

I like how most games have an option for sixaxis controls. Some games do it very well, best example is Ratchet n Clank Future. It doesnt over use it, its only used in places where it makes sense.
Most wii games use motion in a really gimicky way. Often you're just moving the wiimote for the sake of moving it, with the actions onscreen not really reflecting the movement that you do. There are plenty of times when you can ask yourself "is this REALLY better than just pushing a button?" Just like on the wii, its normally only 1st party games that use motion control properly. Sony needs more "kids"/casual games that use the sixaxis feature more prominantly. But even then most of those games would need a button-only option (we all know how people crticized lair's motion-only controls. I guarantee that game would have been praised a lot more if it was on the wii with crap graphics) |

It works excellent with High Velocity Bowling and.....that's about it. Like others have said, it's mostly a gimmick and in my opinion was implemented by Sony for the sole purpose of de-emphasizing the fact that the PS3 controller initially had no vibration function.

Well, the other thing is that the SIXAXIS is less intuitive than the Wii Remote and doesn't work the same way. You can't just point the SIXAXIS "at the screen" (I know, you can't technically do that with the Wii Remote either, since its Pointer position is relative to the sensor bar, but J6P doesn't know that), which cuts out a ton of potential functionality right there.

Lawsuits and copyright infringement aside...if the PS3 is looked at in the same light of the family-friendly Wii, it wouldn't work. SIXAXIS has its uses, but it is also a real controller, something that the major games on the PS3 prefer. Wii-mote is great for certain things, and regular controllers are better for others. Marketing it against the Wii would make the PS3 look like a significantly more expensive family toy and wouldn't shift any extra units.

the 2 aren't the same. that's what the new controller is supposed to change. i'm assuming they will sell it with a usb sensor bar though. |
