Hello...When Im watching a movie on tv (a HD 5.1 movie) I have a heck of an echo on the voices. Im still trying to get used to this receiver (Ive only had it hooked up a week or 2), but I have tried to find where this setting is to turn it off.
Also, is it possible to turn the center channel up only? Seems like the voice is never high enough. Thanks I really appreciate it. |

For the echo, it sounds like you might have one of the sound field programs set (Hall, Chamber etc). Try hitting Straight or Sur Decode button on the remote or even scroll through sound feild programs, Prog on the remote.
For the center channel, to manually bump it up see Speaker Level section in the manual. Basically select Menu->Manual Setup>basic Menu>SP Level and adjust CNTR. If you haven't run YPAO setup with the microphone, you might try that first. |

I have the 863. Are you connecting everything via HDMI? If so I don't think it could be a soundfield because you can't apply them to the HDMI sources as far as I know. If you are not using HDMI just select the Straight mode and you should be in business--full 5:1 sound with not soundfield putzing around.

All he had to do was press the Scene 1 button or the Straight button. It's V663 101. Also what this guy needs to do is what Ozzman suggested. The manual is your bible. Read it. Last edited by Yeha-Noha; 11-24-2008 at 12:06 AM. |

This is a hard one to explain, but based on what I've experienced, it might not be DSP issues causing the echo. I have encountered it ocassionally with regular TV viewing through Dish Network. What I heard included noticable echoes, almost sounding like out of phase stereo playback without sound coming from the center channel. I've verified it with my playback of the same signal with my DVR, so I know it was present both with and without DSP being applied.
My satellite receiver is set to bitstream 5.1 Dolby Digital. I don't know if some TV signals were non-5.1 DD and reverted to 2 channel PCM. I still don't know why this would cause echoing though. To this day, I still don't know what causes it. |
