Default TV Stand. Does anyone have this one?

So I need a new stand for my HT setup. There's not enough breathing room for my receiver, and last night, it was clicking, and smelling kinda funny. So I'd better do something now, before it's too late. So, I'm looking around and spot this one

It's the Z-Line Hybrid Plasma/LCD Media stand found here.
My wife and I both like it, but does anyone have this? Reason I ask is that I've got a pretty big center channel (almost 9" tall ) so would there be enough room for this?

My neighbor has a simular stand and the only problem I saw was that it was very bad at hiding cables

I have it. Depends on wire hiding- down the back, it's great. At the floor... not so much.

Anyway, my center is 8" or so and I still have a couple more inches and I didn't even select the highest stand position, so yeah there's plenty.

FYI- I keep saying this, but you can get it for $198 from Wal-Mart if you don't mind it not having tinted glass. MUCH cheaper. Also, I got it for the same reason, and it's great at keeping things cool.

Wow. Thanks for the quick replies. As for the wires, I can wire tie to my hearts content, so that doesn't bother me much. aramis, I checked but Walmart Canada doesn't have that listed on their website, so I may be stuck with the higher price at FS. It's nice to know that there's enough room for my center as well. That was a worry for me.

Couple things-

1. It wasn't listed here either. It's a new item and I guess they're slow to update their website.

2. It's been rebranded on the box as a HomeTrends item. Once you open the box the manual and everything else is Z-line. I'm betting they just got some money thrown at them to manufacture something low cost and cut corners on the easiest thing- the glass.

It's a little....."industrial" looking isn't it? It almost looks like a piece of exercise equipment! Wouldn't you rather have something a little more decorative?

That looks like exercise equipment to you? Not been in a gym in awhile, eh?

Really, huh? Now I've got a reason to go to Walmart. That and the deal I just saw in the Canadian Hot Deals forum.

Meh, to each their own. I like it. I think it's sleek and sharp. Letting the gear do all the "talking".

i am not sure what all you are going to put on it but if you want to go clean you can mount the tv on the wall with a wall mount. if you have it on a interior wall just drill a hole about 2 inches or 1 1/2 inch behind the tv and drop the cables through the wall and out behind the center speaker which you can buy a floating shelf from lowes or build one. they make different sizes.
i have attached a pic because i do not explain things very well in my old age

Actually, I wanted a stand that let the equipment breathe, and had enough room for my really big center channel. I like the idea of wall mounting, but this would be in the living room, and I'm designing and building a HT room in the basement right now. And of course, my wife doesn't want holes in the wall.

So after much deliberation and shopping today, I have decided on a stand. I really liked the Z-line one, but my wife doesn't like the brushed aluminum in person. I don't know, she liked the pictures. Anyways, after a couple hours of shopping, I found this one at BestBuy

I like the way it looks, and it kind of matches my Ikea chair and other pieces that I already own. The Bestbuy I was at, didn't have any, but they said that another one had one in stock. So across town we go. When we get there, we find out the one they had, was put out as a display the night before, and they hadn't updated the computers, so they don't have it available. So what they did was knock $50 off the price, and give me free home delivery for this Wednesday.

While I do appreciate the suggestion, the stand that you linked to doesn't meet any of my criteria. When I was looking for stands, I saw a few that looked like the one you linked, but I had concerns with it. I would put my hand near the receiver running in the stand, and there was alot of heat being generated. That's the situation that I'm dealing with currently. Too much heat being generated and not dissipated. If that didn't concern me, I'd keep my current stand, one that I designed and built myself years ago. But I need something that will let my receiver breathe, as I am running it in 6-ohm mode, drawing more power and creating more heat. The other thing that makes me think that stand isn't for me is the fact that my center channel is 8.75" tall. There doesn't appear to be any room for a center that size in the stand that you showed me.

But I didn't get the stand that I initially linked in the thread anyways. I ended up getting one that is a little more suited to the rest of the furniture in my house. This one

which suits my needs just fine, by giving my equipment room to breathe, and allows me to mount the TV a little higher, giving me enough room for my oversized center channel.

I have a similar stand, which I bought at Costco....YES, COSTCO! And I can tell you it's not junk. I like these kinds of stands as it allows my equipment to breathe properly and provides me with quick and easy access to all of my cabling. I would personally never consider sealed cabinets for any kind of electronic equipment. But that's just my opnion!

BDI are good but no where near the best. For the price though that is another question.
