Default Sony S5000ES

Hallo,
the new Sony BD player mod. BDP S5000ES is in Eurpopa available.

Versus the the Denon3800BD and Marantz BD8002 will be more perfomaneced
and at street price not so expensive.

Everybody have this player "in the head"?
I think is profile 2 versus 1.1 from Marantz/Denon...(but is really so important the profile? when i have sse a movie I go stop my player...this extra navigate possiblity are really a good extra or is only a market-chain to sell more "new" player from the *brands"?
If I will see extra info I go via internet!!!! well?

please opinion. thanks

Forget about the current Denon and Marantz models right now. CES is in January. Newer models will be rolled out, and the pricing on current players, especially profile 1.1 will drop very fast. Buying one now is not a smart decision. By spring these 2K players will be under 1K on the used market.

Unless you plan on using the analog outs of the player, buying these flagship players are a complete waste of time and money. Most people will use an HDMI connection.

With regards to Profile 2.0, it's not just about marketing extras and BD Live. it is mandatory that all 2.0 players be able to connect to the internet. This would make firmware updates a lot faster and easier.

I disagree about buying now. I will enjoy mine (received via fed-ex from Sony-style on 11-14) a truly wonderful machine, great build quality and features and plays std dvd's as well as any player I have used! Buy the best you can afford and enjoy, all electronics (like PC's) get cheaper or become obsolete!

Sure, I agree with this philosophy in general, but he's asking about Denon and Marantz players. CES is in January. The same player that is 2K now will drop dramatically once announcements are made. The Marantz player is already being heavily discounted right now. You can pick one up for $1,400 now. If we were months away, that would be one thing, but we are a little over a month away. I don't know about you, but I can wait a month to save a grand. That's just me.

Hallo,

I agree with your opinions....

The BIG problem is: your are in USA, I'm in europa...
The Marantz bd8002 will be available now!! at full price.
= chf. 3500.- = $. 2900 ca. !!!! and max. discount is 10/15%!!
The Denon 3800 is priced ca. chf. 2700.- = $. 2220.-
The Sony S5000ES = chf. 2000.-?? = $. 1650.- ca. (This is very new and the price is an estimate)

what you see at the CES in USA will be available first in USA and later in Europa at full price....

At tis moment the only player that make interesse is the Sony S5000ES...
its price is the most interesting relationship with the performance/price...

Or a "simply" sony S550 is too a good solution... not expensive and in a pairs of months we can replace without great loss of money.....

greetings

Hey Omar,

Just get the 550 now. That way when you replace it in a couple of months, you won't lose a lot of money. Like the previous posts have mentioned, my dealer has also said that Denon will have a profile 2.0 out probably next spring, and support DVD-A/SACD. However, it will be more expensive, probably $3000-4000 USD.

Since this is your Blu-ray only player, no DVDs, there isn't much benefit on spending the extra money for the video processing.

Hi garak,

yes I find that the S550 for the BD is the better solution. any way.
for a "definitive" blueray player the Denon 3800/Marantz8002 are a good player NOW but in half year will be obsolete......

I switzerland you can find the S350 for chf. 279.-!! /$. 230 ca.!!!

What do you think about my opinion over Classe xover?
the cdp102 work fine? I will be go with the cdp300....the cdT is the same product, same performance but is not so much flexible...My freind from Classe say me that I muss buy the not so expensive cdT, I go see...

the BD disc with a Sony S300, PS3,....they are very good...the Realta chip I dont no if make diffenrence....You agree well?
