Default Someone say something motivating....

I can't believe how horrible my first university semester went. I am about done and I maybe attended 12 classes total. I majored in Political Science

I dropped one because I simply loathed it: History post 1945

I am going to fail another because i also loath that: Ancient Greek Civilization. NOT as interesting as it sounds. My god I don't want to hear about pots and pans anymore. So now I end this semester with 3 courses, 9 credits completed. Should have had 15. Sigh.

I switched my major to something far more interesting to me (major in Economics) but that doesn't start until next semester and I can't even get the energy to do these final essays. I have three 20 page papers due soon, and a 10 page book report due. I also haven't studied for a minor test that I have tonight, and I am pretty much relying on cheating off my friend.

I have absolutely no drive to do them. I wish someone could inspire me with Braveheart-like battlefield Bravado.

The biggest inspiration I ever got happened while I was working at a lumber yard for a few years. One day I saw an older man pushing a broom talking about his life issues. The best inspiration was just the visual of it and how I didn't want to end up struggling. I moved out of my apt, traveled to a different state, went to engineering college then grad school.

You can always change your situation. Inspiration comes in many forms. A visual one was the most effective for me.

I could use a job too... so this could work in more than one way.

Sounds like you need more then motivation, also sounds like your father is going to plant his shoe up your a@@ if he sees your grades , that might be all the motivation you need.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, so I may be able to help.......

GO INTO THE MEDICAL FIELD..... Trust me, Nursing isn't just for women.... the job security and monetary rewards are AMAZING.....

If you want to stick with a business based degree, do something with Medical contracts etc.... but whatever you do, Specialize in medicine.... you'll save yourself a LOT of headaches later......

Skip nursing and go for physical or occupational therapy. These fields are in such high demand that even the assistants (which is a 2 year degree) are starting out around $40/hour in my area (south alabama where wages aren't what they are elsewhere) With the baby boomers rapidly becoming seniors...... there will only be more demand.

college, for the most part, is a total scam.

I have a degree in marketing(biggest scam major in the entire school of business). I have a decent job now(I'm 31) but it's all based on my previous B2B sales experience.

poli sci, history, economics, english....all bullshit unless you plan on getting higher education.

there are only a handful of practical majors in a regular 4 year accredited school. if you want to stick with business then get an accounting degree and stay serious with your work. if not, I would look into devry type schools (they are underrated and laughed at but they seem to work for certain people and are a hell of a lot cheaper)

if you are not serious then stop wasting time and money and learn a trade or something.

Or travel and work in another part of the world for the experience. Don't just go into debt over nothing as most people do because they are told that is what they should do.

I was lucky enough to be in a position where I didn't need a loan, grants, etc so it wasn't an issue for me but I have had friends struggling with those loans for years on end with nothing to show for it.

I would look at these sites to help you think about job outlook:

http://www.dol.gov/

http://www.bls.gov/OCO/

Off the cuff:

Medical - lots of options as people have mentioned above
Dental
Law
Engineers (esp. power) - 8-5, never work weekends and great bennies, time off for holidays

There's lots to consider, but seriously check the BLS for ideas on jobs and their outlooks.
