Looking for a Midtier AV Receiver - Blu-ray Forum

Just wondering what kind of midtier receiver would be good to start a home theater system with. Looking to spend up to $600 on a receiver. I have a 42in Sony Bravia and a PS3. Speakers and sub are already covered. Any suggestions for a receiver. Thanks in advance.

just something simple that i can connect an hd cable source and a ps3 through hdmi. i read that there is something like an hdmi video passthrough that requires additional wiring for sound. would like something where video and audio pass through the hdmi. right now ill probably go with a 5.1 surround sound system. i know practically nothing when it comes to home theater systems.
