Default George Miller Off Justice League

Quote:
Dark Horizons reports that filmmaker George Miller appeared on Sydney-based morning talk show "Sunrise" on Monday and confirmed he's no longer involved with the Justice League movie in any capacity.

Miller indicated that if the project does get going again, he expects that it'll be recast as "the studios seem to want bigger stars in their superhero movies now."

Miller added that he'd like to work with Mel Gibson again and while the actor doesn't want to do the "Mad Max" script he wrote, he hasn't given up on that possibility just yet.

Big shocker. Another DC movie gets announced, WB dicks around, and then kills the project.

They're just doing what's required of them so that DC can't take the film projects to any other studios.

WB management is weirder by the second. They must be seeing what Marvel is actualy doing or is it because they had this one big success with TDK they feel they can make a movie wait?

The thing is... WB doesn't want to take the risk and make the movies.

That's the problem with DC being owned by Time Warner. WB gets first pass on any movie. If they pass, DC is allowed to shop it around to other studios. That's why WB will never pass on any movie that DC wants to have made. They'll put them into pre-production, spend some money, and then eventually kill the project. In other words, the people at WB are morons. Especially when Marvel is kicking DC's ass at the movies*.

Not to mention kicking their ass at the comic stores as well. And getting there in the Cartoon realm as well. Especially with Spectacular Spider-Man and Wolverine and the X-Men which starts in January.

* - The Dark Knight being the exception that proves the rule.

The Warner executives simply do not know how to manage the DC properties. The success of the modern Batman franchise is due to two reasons, Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale. They are scared to death to do a Justice League movie even though most feel it will be a massive blockbuster. We are never going to see a Justice League movie until the current Batman franchise has run its course. Offer Christopher Nolan a boatload of money to direct the Justice League movie and presto another billion dollar franchise is born.

It wouldn't fit in his 'Realistic Themes' that he keeps yammering about.

This movie has been dead for some time. It was funny that some of the actor's and the director didn't get the memo until now. I hope DC plans things on a larger scale for the future. I think the idea for a Justice League movie is great and would be absolutely huge. But it could also be a huge stinker if not done right (same goes for the Avengers flick)

I don't really want a JL movie. I think that the Batman that is known today (Bale) is a very singular character. Nolan has created a Batman that I don't think would work well in a JL film. Same with the Superman character. Before a JL movie I would like to see a flash movie. That would be cool!!!! Anyway I don't think that a JL film is needed. Yet.
