Default Universal making business sense...
I've read a lot about how Universal is making a mistake by being the only major studio to be HD-DVD only - that they are missing out on lots of Blu-Ray sales and prolonging a format war.

However, maybe this is a good business model. Put your product out on HD-DVD only - get the HD-DVD supports to buy them up. HD-DVD folds - then you get to re-release all your titles on Blu-Ray. Now many of the previous HD-DVD supporters will 're-buy' the title in Blu-Ray - you've essentially sold a movie from your catalog twice.
