Default Polk PSW10 Settings

What are the best settings on the PSW10 sub with a Onkyo 605 for the 2 scenarios?

1) Using a single cable into the Line In (Left or Right - No LFE on this sub) on the sub from the subwoofer out on the 605:

A - Set to Fullband (this is Large on the 605) or not?
B - If not, what hz should be set on the crossovers for the sub with Polks T90e's and center CS10?

2) Using the Y splitter into the L and R Line In (No LFE on this sub) on the sub from the subwoofer out on the 605?

A - Set to Fullband (this is Large on the 605) or not?
B - If not, what hz should be set on the crossovers for the sub with Polks T90e's and center CS10?

It could be the same settings for both for all I know, but I wanted to ask to make sure. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Y cord in and set the x over at 120 on the sub and the receiver. Then set the x over for your fronts at 80.

If it gets to much voice bleed roll the x over to 100 on the receiver.

This is what works best for my set up, which is pretty close to what you have.

There's some specific instructions for this in the manual.
Quote:
PSW10—
NOTE: The PSW10 subwoofer does not have an LFE input. Instead, use either the
L or R Line input (another hookup option is to use a Y-split cable and connect both L and R Line inputs). After you make this Sub Out connection, turn the "Low Pass" filter fully clockwise. This will in effect create an LFE input.
Does your receiver have audessey to make the x-over settings for you? I have this sub on order and have audessey on my receiver. I will run audessey after hooking it up and report back the x-over setting. I am willing to bet it will be around 100Hz?

Quote:
Depending on your speakers’ bass output capabilities, set the crossover frequency
on the receiver to 80Hz for tower and bookshelf speakers (speakers with a woofer
5 1/4" in diameter or larger) and 100-120Hz for satellite speakers.
Receiver Settings:
• Front, Center, and Surrounds = “SMALL”
• Subwoofer = “ON,” or “YES,” or “PRESENT”

I did read that previously within the manual, but I wanted to find out what others thought were best with my new fronts and center speakers. I tend not to think it should be Fullband (Large), and thus the need for crossover settings based on the 2 scenarios with the sub cable and Y-splitter.

The receiver does have Audessey, but I have read numerous posts within a sticky in the Receiver Forum about how audessey tries to "force" certain settings that should no longer be used. I tend to agree because having run audessey previously, it simply did not sound right to me based on my room configuration. So, I was trying to get a consensus of what others might have their crossovers at. I bet you are right about the 100 hz though.

Thanks for the info!

i have my crossover on the back of the sub turned to it's highest point. I then have the crossover in the onkyo 605 set to 120hz for my sub, my fronts, center and surrounds are all 80hz and it sounds excellent. now you will have to tweak it for your environment but those settings should be a good starting point for you.

As usual, thanks brett, I appreciate the info. The speakers and sub are sitting in their boxes at home, as my wife just called me to tell me they arrived.

Audessey set the fronts and center to small but the x-over was 60Hz for the L/R and 40Hz for the center. Pretty dang low. I thing I'm going to manually bump it up a few Hz.

I'd set them to 80hz all the way around for those speakers.
