Just got my brand new Pioneer PDP-6020FD, Plugged it in and got no picture at all, and a very disturbing buzzing sound, just black screen and buzz, shut it off right away. Has anyone else had this problem?

I might have to, I am hoping it is a power source issue, of course I get it the day before thanksgiving, it is no small thing pacing up a 60 inch TV and having the company who brought it come pic it up, pain in the butt to be sure. I am just wondering if this happens with other Pioneer TV's.

I know that some reviewers were reporting a slight buzzing sound but not something distracting and it should only be detectable when everything is dead silent...
Another thing, I read that in higher altitude, plasma displays make a buzzing sound... Perhaps if you live somewhere high enough this might be your problem. Edit: I don't think Minnesota is really high... Anyway, I would return it and see if the demo model has the same buzzing... Last edited by Johk; 11-27-2008 at 10:20 PM. |

This is "normal" and not dangerous. Turn down contrast some and you dont stress the powerwhateverthingie and the sound should go away\quieter.
IF the buzz is there after calibration i would give pioneer a call. |

I told the good people at Pioneer what happened. They insisted, based on what I said that the TV was damaged by delevery people. I did not see any damge and still don't, according to them I must take all this up with the people who brought it. Why would I lie about this? If the delevery people cracked it I would have seen it, for gods sake I don't buy $3800 items all the time you bett your a%# I looked at it! Needless to say the shippers were not happy, I don't blame them. The last word from East coast shippers is they are filing some sort of conceled damage clain and the TV is to be picked up and I will get a new one. That's what I am told, let's see what happens.....any advice from anyone else with similar problems is appreciated.
