I just got it for rent.
So I'll be watching in a little bit.

I've never reviewed a blu-ray but I'll post my thoughts fo sho.

EDIT: I only got around to watching the first 20 minutes so far, but the PQ looks very solid.
And I'm actually liking the movie, it's not bad.

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for a review on "Fight the Future". I hope Fox included the three trailers in HD and there are no problems with the audio and video presentation.

DVD Empire has the rear cover art:

OMG "Fight the Future" is extended!!! I am all over that one! I own the DTS Anamorphic DVD as part of the Complete Series Collection and owned same version separately before that. I gave that copy to my friend Sara who I hooked on the show. As a DVD the sound and clarity were very good but as a DTS HD 5.1 with 1080p picture and an extended cut?!!! Double feature night with a couple episodes I haven't seen thrown in for good measure!

I actually didn't notice that either until this morning. Both of them apparently are... That got me excited.

As far as I know, the DVD (and gasp VHS! ) was always the "extended" cut. It's only and extra 2 - 4 mins. Nothing to get super excited about. But I appreciate being able to view the theatrical version (In theory. I'm assuming it will be released in the UK with both edits )

IMDB
Quote:
The video release has additional footage not shown in the theatrical release:

In the opening scene you now see more of the alien. In the theatrical release we see it fight off one of the cavemen, killing it, and the other caveman gets up to see it lying on the ground draining out the black blood (or what fans know as black oil). In the video release, we see it run off after it kills one of the cavemen, and when the other caveman gets up, he tracks it down and then kills it using the broken end of his torch.

In the scene with Mulder talking to the Well Manicured Man in the car, he reveals to Mulder that Samantha, Mulder's sister, was abducted by aliens at the request of her father, William Mulder, so she could be part of the colonization project, thus ensuring her survival in the colonization of Earth by the visitors. Also revealed is that when plans went awry, Mulder was intended, by his father, to seek the truth and reveal what had been done.

There is also an added scene in the video release with Mulder running down the street after the hospital scene.
Unless there's a new extended cut just for this Blu-ray. But I doubt it.
