Live Action Dilbert Movie?
Could be a good idea. The guys done a few episodes of the office. Could we get another Office Space type movie? I love the Dilbert strip.
Quote:
Yep, this about as crazy as they come, but apparently it's happening. The always reliable Pajiba is reporting that Phoenix Pictures (Zodiac, Shutter Island, Black Swan) is developing a live-action feature film based on the Dilbert comics, introduced in 1989 created by Scott Adams. And apparently they've got the director of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, License to Wed, and He's Just Not That Into You - Ken Kwapis - attached to direct. Yes, this will probably be just a feature version of "The Office" and it'll probably end up being pretty awful, mainly because I just can't see Kwapis creating a masterpiece out of Dilbert (can you?).
Anyway, here's the interesting Hollywood side of all of this. Kwapis has actually directed some 12 episodes of NBC's "The Office" and is friends with John Krasinski, because he recently cast him in his upcoming whale drama Everybody Loves Whales. So, like Pajiba speculates, it sounds like there's a chance we could see Krasinski as Dilbert, but that's purely hypothetical at this point. So beyond that, we have no clue how a live-action Dilbert movie will work, but it'll probably just be an office comedy like Office Space but not even as good as that. It's not to say that the Dilbert comics are bad, I just can't see them working well as a movie.
Anyway, since we don't have any more info about this besides the basics that Pajiba provided, I'll send you over to Hulu where you can watch full episodes of the animated Dilbert show for free.
