SOME OF THE COMMON NEGATIVE OPINIONS REGARDING THE DARK KNIGHT..... AGREE OR DISAGREE????????
- The movie made all the money it did because of Heath Ledger's passing - Christian Bale is overrated and his Batman voice is difficult to understand - The ferry scene is stupid - Batman Begins is a much better movie - Iron Man was much better than The Dark Knight - They shouldn't have [Show spoiler] Anymore? ledgers' passing takes absolutely nothing away from his performance as the joker!!!
bales' voice as batman has been explained numerous times, it's to disguise his voice so people don't recognize him as bruce wayne. bale is not overated, he is one of the better actors in hollywood right now. iron man was awesome in it's own right just as the dark knight is. batman begins was a good movie in it's own right but better than knight is a toss up. |

TDK shines because of Heath Ledger's incredible acting. That is absolutely superb...

I think he's upset because he lives in Canada but couldn't get his hands on a Steelbook of TDK.

Begins is probably my favorite of the two as well. I think it's one of the best origin story film adaptations made, wasn't too keen on the idea before release but once I saw it I watched it every time it was shown on cable.
but, wouldn't the argument of it being better than Dark Knight invalidate (at least partially) the first argument that it only made the money it did because of Ledger's passing? Wouldn't the fans of Begins (let alone Batman fans in general) have been a big contributing factor to its success. first I've heard the voice being hard to understand argument (though it is deeper in TDK than Begins). I don't know if I'd say Iron Man is much better (they are fairly different). I liked Iron Man but haven't seen it enough (only once compared to 10+ of TDK) to really say if one is better than the other. Kind of agree with the last part, but at the same time it didn't really bother me because it fit with the story they told. -Agrare |

I think it's overrated too. Though it's a very good movie as far as comic book movies go. Ledger gave a fine performance, but I am fairly certain he wouldn't have won the Oscar if he were still alive.
The ferry scene was pretty stupid. In order for the joker to have done what he did--mass quantities of explosives all over the city--he would have outpaced Tyler Durden as the Hardest Working Man in a Movie. The movie took too long to end. It was wrapping up and then they added another movie at the end. The whole Two Face substory should have been left out. Mainly because it was superfluous to the movie, but also because his actions and motivations were illogical and made no sense. I am not particularly fond of Christian Bale, either as Batman or any other role. His low growl is particularly annoying (cf. Public Enemies) and his mouth full of fake teeth is distracting. But The Dark Knight was a good movie. I think I liked Batman Begins slightly better, but despite the gripes the two movies work well. (I too preferred Iron Man.) FINALLY....a new topic to discuss on this forum.
![]() Very good movie IMO....but yes Bale's voice got quite annoying before I got used to it. His voice was much less over the top in Batman Begins....which is the better of the two by a slight margin. Ledger was INCREDIBLE, anyone that doesn't think so has not seen the film. Ok, I'm done ![]() ![]() |

Ledger's passing had nothing to do with the success of the film. It's a remarkable performance anyway you look at it and he would have still been nominated and likely won had he not died. The film was successful and popular and well loved because it's an entertaining, suspenseful, action-packed, and thought-provoking ride of a film. Period. The hype was huge because it was following the well received Batman Begins and the fact that the ad campaign was original and fresh. Add onto that the fact that it was Joker and Batman, and you've got a huge hit. Those two characters together just tap into something within the public conscience that just makes it a must-see event.
In comparison, I found Iron Man overly simplistic, pandering, and morally bankrupt. Downey was fun to watch and the Winston Studio suit looked great, but other than those two things, the film offered nothing more. Last edited by Kryptonic; 09-11-2009 at 02:19 PM. |

Ledger sucked... and Christian Bale can't act for crap, in EVERY movie he just gives off this emotionless mentally challenged stare... the lisp and his growling doesn't help either.
I hated Batman Begins to. Iron Man is awesome! and a lot more faithful to the comics as well(unlike these Nolan films) |

I thought TDK was a great movie, along with several other movies. I do agree though that Bale's voice disguise is just too over the top, especially when he get's mad (it really sounds like your youtube link). How about just making it lower and skip the raspy/yelling approach - I bet it hurts. As far as Ledger - I thought his approach to Joker was fantastic. He made Joker a very likeable, funny character, yet insane and terrifying at the same time and isn't that the exact definition of the Joker? Last edited by vega2K; 09-11-2009 at 02:17 PM. |

You are 100% correct...Christian Bale is the man...there is not one actor I know of that could do it better than him....these guys are just drinking Haterade because this movie rocked....Iron was good but no where in the league of TDK. BB was great and established Bale as the best bat man but TDK took it to an entirely different level....he is the man....stop being HATERS |
