Default My first beef with Sony Pictures is...

...Spiderman 2.1, only on regular DVD!

C'mon! I've only been seeing that damn BD promo with Spiderman 2 and other movies for the past few months, but I'm reading PSM magazine and there's an add for the damn DVD!

Spiderman 2 is the Blu-Ray I want the most at the moment, I'd be happy with the basic Spiderman 2 BR at this point

While it hasn't been confirmed, it has been alluded to multiple times, that the Spiderman films won't see BD until the fall. A box set containing BD editions of all three Spiderman films has been hinted at.

Yeah, either due to masters not being good enough, or the current piracy situation is forcing Sony to be conservative with such a franchise title.

A box set is cool too. Especially if it includes new HD extras for all the films.

But, Profile 1.1 requires hardware that most players won't have (second video decoder).

The only player out that is guaranteed to be Profile 1.1 compliant, could be today if the wanted to do it: That is the PS/3.

Gary: Would you know if the BDP-S1 can be Profile 1.1 compliant?

I guess they would bundle it with the new players, then, or have some sort of special and release it the same time the 1.1 players are out. If not, they would have to wait at least a few months for the 1.1 players to get into enough homes, and they still have to remember that not everyone is going to go out and upgrade their players.

From what I gathered from TalkStr8t, they have to settle on the complete BD-J spec first. Then, they can start creating the content with those specs. They can't create the content without knowing what the specs are. That could cause Spiderman to be delay until around the Fall.

Box set sounds like the way to go, even if I have to hold out another year.
