Not sure if they make aftermarket lan adapters for this bluray but i just purchased the 5500 then my wife pointed out the wireless lan was not included so i returned it and got the 6600(its the next model up with 3D and includes the adapter) i dont have a 3d tv but hey you never know i could in future.

I prefer a hard-wired internet connection. I have three devices at the entertainment center that are fed through a ethernet port and a switch. My house is over 80 years old and barely had power (one outlet per room) but it has been upgraded to the 21st century.

Otherwise you can get a wireless router and bridge it to your wireless router at your modem.

Default The dongle

I got a Samsung UN55C6500 TV before Christmas, and am extremely pleased with it. Re the Dongle, this was posted elsewhere:

THE ROSEWILL RNX-N1 WORKS ON MY SAMSUNG HDTV!!!
I can attest to what Yal wrote: "Rosewill RNX-N1 is a cheaper alternative to the Samsung LinkStick.". I purchased a NEW one from an EGG-ceptional popular online computer parts site for $29.99 with free shipping-@NewEgg.com. I received it in 3 days (yesterday), plugged it into my new Samsung 55" LCD HDTV, it recognized it almost immediately in auto mode, found my Linksys home network, and after I entered the security code, it configured itself perfectly! The whole process took about 10 minutes and I was soon watching YouTube videos and listening to music on Pandora without any problems! My wireless network runs at "G" speed, but the Rosewill RNX-N1 is also rated for the faster "N" mode! Now I just have to install the Samsung PC-Sharing software to be able to access my photos and videos I have saved on my PC and laptop. This was the easiest network install I have ever done! I also understand this unit will work with the new Samsung Blu-Ray players too! I saved $50 and I'm a HAPPY CAMPER! As Yal put it: IT ROCKS!!! @NewEgg.com

Yal says:
Rosewill RNX-EasyN1 is the wrong product! The Rosewill RNX-N1 IEEE 802.11b/g/n is the correct product. Return the RNX-EasyN1 and get the RNX-N1.

These are the exact steps I took to connect my RNX-N1 to my Samsung 55" LCD HDTV:
1>Open "Menu". 2>Enter "Plug & Play". 3>Enter "Wireless Network Setup". 4>Go to "Network Type". 5>Choose "Wireless". 6>Go to "Network Setup". 7>Choose "Auto Setup" in "Internet Protocol Setup". 8>Choose "Select a Network" (Your network name should appear on the right, depending on how many networks the adapter finds.). 9>Select your network from the network list. 10>Enter your router's security key (My Linksys key has 26 alpha-numeric characters.) After pressing "Enter" your HDTV will complete the wireless connection. Once the setup is completed, press the "Internet" button and setup your widgets!
As long as you have a simple home network and not a complexly configured one, you should be able to connect the way I did. I don't think I ever chose to "Test" my network. Once my Sammy told me I was connected, I went straight to the Internet. Although my set is an LCD and your set is an LED model, I don't believe it makes a difference.
I hope this helps.

I cannot attest to the above, because someone gave us their spare Samsung dongle, but I otherwise I would've tried the Rosewill RNX-N1 IEEE 802.11b/g/n.

Default Samsung BD-C5500 blu ray player

Forgot to mention that I bought the subject player on Dec 27th. We watched one full DVD on Dec 28th, then on Dec 29th began watching another DVD. About a third of the way through, the sound suddenly dissapeared. Flat out, it failed. Luckilly I bought the unit at Sams, so was able to take it back for full refund the next day.

I've since done more research, and am leaning toward the
Panasonic DMP-BD65. I don't need it to connect to the net, cuz I can do this with my Samsung LED TV.

Happy New Year,
RD3
