I got mine from Parts express, can't remember what I paid for it(around $100-150 I think) , got it about 8 years ago. It was a nice MDF kit, panels were about 1.5" thick. It weighs a ton, especially with the driver, amp and port installed. It wasn't originally designed for a port but had a woodworking shop cut a hole so I could install one.

Go to the thread Building Subwoofers & Upgrading Speakers. There are good links there. Also, look at the links in Post #2.

Go to Home Depot. I got a 10' x 8' sheet of 3/4" thick MDF wood for around $20 there. I know they sell thicker too. Why 1 1/2" thick MDF though?

Not sure, but it is a beast of a box, similar to the 3.0 CF boxes available from parts express now but thicker. It may have been for strength, the way the pieces were cut to overlap at the corners they may have used thicker MDF so that the tabs on the sides wouldn't break during shipping. It was shipped as a kit, I had to assemble it myself.

I used the adire audio shiva 12" sub driver and a 175 watt amp from Madisound. It will rattle everything in my house if I have it turned up too high. I finished it with piano black laminate.

Hate having to move it for any reason, Built it in my basement and had to have help carrying it up the stairs, it must weigh close to 100lbs.
