Default Why is Europe getting first dibs on these new releases?

Just wondering why Europe keeps getting first dibs on so many Blu Ray releases?

DUNE to France others to the UK......

Different studios have different rights to different movies in different territories.

Because the world doesn't revolve around America. We get some stuff first, you get some stuff first. Sometimes you get Blu's we never get, the 5 disc version of Blade Runner for instance and you pay less for them than we do. This is just the way things are, deal with it

For catalog releases, studios will often wait to tie products into new releases, or even just wait for the economy to rebound. Some Warner and Fox titles have been released in Japan for sometime, but delayed here because the economy is hurting.

I was about to ask the same thing for the US.

When we argue about never getting anything, we're told to deal with it, but why should you be allowed to complain when a European country gets something first?

It doesn't seem fair nor does it make sense does it?

Anyway, get over it.

But yeah, sometimes a country will get a movie first. Japan got Trainspotting first and that was made in the UK.

Chill.

So somebody can't just be called a 'superstar' until they're recognised in the US? You may not think it has negative connotations but you're on the inside looking out, those on the outside looking in (i.e. everybody else in the World that isn't America) may see things differently. Don't get me wrong, I like America, it provides most of my entertainment, I love watching the NFL and NBA, most of the TV I watch is American and the music I listen to mainly comes from the US. Most of the people are ok (apart from the screamy whiny children you have to put up with online, thank God for mute ). But sometimes it's not difficult to understand why people don't like America.

I was going to try and explain, but it would be off topic, so instead I'll just hug all the people's of the world.

and ON topic, I don't begrudge the Europeans getting a movie before us. I know we'll get it some day.

This shouldn't be turned into in fighting within the Blu community. It should be turned against the movie bods to get rid of region encoding. Then we can buy any movie from anywhere in the world an we'll know it'll work just fine

To be fair most of the studios are doing a fine job of not region coding titles, even Fox seems to be more relaxed about it recently!

In a bid to stop Europeans importing cheap discs from elsewhere in the world, we have at last been given an incentive to buy local releases: They're finally cheaper, and in some cases, released first.

Your post wasn't deleted for being offensive.... but from quoting another post, and inviting the debate, which would turn this thread into "Off-Topic"

But you are correct, your post wasn't offensive.

Fair do's thanks for getting back to me and on topic i would like the releases over here better if we had slim cases like the US.

That's incentive.
